肖雅方于香港城市大学大学获得化学专业博士学位，于2022年加入GMU iCAN Lab，担任副教授。主要从事免疫调控纳米材料的开发与研究。
具体研究方向包括：
（1）致力于构建基于脂质纳米颗粒的mRNA纳米递送平台，通过开发高效、安全且具有靶向功能的递送系统，推动mRNA技术在疫苗与基因治疗领域的应用。
（2）设计新型近红外有机光敏剂及荧光成像探针，通过优化分子能级和供体-受体结构，拓展其在近红外区域的吸收与发射范围，提升光敏剂的光物理性能与生物相容性，从而增强光学分子对微环境的响应能力、靶向能力及治疗效力。
Dr. Yafang Xiao earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from City University of Hong Kong and joined the GMU iCAN Lab as an Associate Professor in 2022. Her primary research focuses on the development and study of immunomodulatory nanomaterials.
Specific research directions include:
(1) Constructing mRNA nanodelivery platforms based on lipid nanoparticles. By developing efficient, safe, and targeted delivery systems, she aims to advance the application of mRNA technology in vaccines and gene therapy.
(2) Designing novel near-infrared organic photosensitizers and fluorescent imaging probes. Through optimizing molecular energy levels and donor–acceptor structures, she seeks to extend their absorption and emission ranges in the near-infrared region, enhance their photophysical properties and biocompatibility, and thereby improve the responsiveness, targeting capability, and therapeutic efficacy of optical molecules in microenvironments
