The iCAN Laboratory sincerely invites Professor Guixue Wang with an academic report on “Advances in Vascular Cell Phagocytosis Biomechanics”

2025-12-24

The iCAN Laboratory is honored to invite Professor Wang Guixue, a Distinguished Professor and doctoral supervisor from the School of Bioengineering at Chongqing University, to deliver an academic presentation titled "Advances in Vascular Cell Phagocytosis Biomechanics". Professor Wang, a recipient of the State Council Special Allowance and Fellow of the International Union of Societies for Biomaterials Science and Engineering (FBSE), also serves as the Director of the Chinese Society of Pathophysiology's Committee on Atherosclerosis. His research has been recognized in the World's Top 2% Scientists.

Professor Wang's presentation focused on the biomechanical mechanisms underlying abnormal shear stress-induced endothelial cell phagocytosis. He systematically elaborated on the force-sensitive biological processes governing endothelial cell phagocytosis, including mechanistic analyses, computational modeling, and therapeutic applications. His work bridges interdisciplinary research paradigms, demonstrating how nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems can achieve targeted modulation of endothelial phagocytosis for precise intraplaque drug delivery in atherosclerosis. This approach offers innovative strategies for cardiovascular disease treatment.

The lecture deepened the laboratory's understanding of the cross-disciplinary interplay between vascular cell mechanics and biology, providing a robust theoretical foundation for advancing disease diagnosis and therapeutic innovation.
